We’re excited to announce that quoteyou is officially live on the App Store! quoteyou allows you to create private groups of friends and family where you can share memorable quotes.
We built quoteyou entirely in FlutterFlow while listening to Soundcloud mixes long after our children are asleep. Without the speed of creating UI and connecting it to the backend in FF, we would not have been able to build quoteyou so quickly. We’re so excited to share our launch with the FF community and are eager to hear your feedback as fellow FF creators!
App Features
👥 Create a group and text the link out to your friends and family so that they can download the app and join the group
🗣️ Save and share funny, memorable, or heartfelt quotes of friends and family to a particular group
🔊 Speak the quotes aloud from a set of 9 AI-generated voices
😄 React to quotes with different emojis
🎨 Order the quotes as custom swag: choose from one of 6 different styles and 9 different physical products to have your quote custom printed and shipped. Perfect as a gift for yourself or your friend!
🔒 Unlike other social networks, quoteyou is private – you can only use the app by joining a private group and you can only browse quotes that you have access to in that group
Technical Details
FlutterFlow: the app we all know and love 😄
Google Cloud Run: our API is built in Python using Google Cloud Run. We use the API to generate the AI voices, call out to Printify to create products and orders, etc.
Google Cloud Functions: We utilize trigger-based cloud functions to respond to various Firestore database actions: for example, we send an email whenever a new Order document is created.
Firestore: We use Firestore as our primary database.
Firebase Remote Config: We can add new products and quote styles all remotely through Firebase Remote Config, eliminating the need for any app updates if we simply want to add a new product for example.
Stripe: We use Stripe to process payments for new product orders.
Firebase Dynamic Links: The links to join a new group are created through Firebase Dynamic Links.
What we’re working on next
Publishing to the Play Store: We prioritized iOS for now because we have more experience with the App Store, but we’re looking forward to launching on the Play Store soon too.
Social share feature: Users should be able to choose an image from their camera roll, add a quote as a sticker to it, and share it to a social media platform like Instagram.
Optimizing Desktop view: We prioritized the mobile app only, so need to make some UI tweaks to get it looking 🔥on Desktop too.
