Access Magnetometer Data & Display on Graph

I'm looking to record magnetometer data and then save that in the database to then be loaded in a graph for viewing. Does anyone know how I might do this?

What have you tried so far?

I've tried making a custom widget and importing sensors_plus but it doesn't recognize the magnetometerEvents name.
