Algolia results very slow

I'm using algolia seach in a few places: search/filtering results in a column, search/filtering results in an autocomplete. The results are very slow to render - Algolia is returning quickly, however the there is a 1-2 sec delay in rendering the results.

What have you tried so far?

added a search delay, so results are sent and rendered until the user stops typing for 300ms
