Can't seem to make the shimmering effect work when there's a nested backend query

So I've created a backend query to my 'rentalItems' collection and a nested backend query to my 'photos' subcollection. I've also got a loading component set up on both queries, but it's not showing any loading, not even the project loading widget it's just empty. Can someone help/explain what I'm doing wrong?

What have you tried so far?

I've changed the loading widget from the project style to the custom component, but it's not doing anything
