FlutterFlow’s translation system is a disaster

Troubleshooting

Hey FlutterFlow community,

I need to share my weird experience with FlutterFlow’s translation system.

I made the conscious decision not to trust the automated translation system (because, let’s face it, I had a gut feeling it wouldn’t work well). Instead, I took the extremely time-consuming approach of translating each line manually from French to English using the correspondence table in the APP SETTINGS section of the Windows app. This process took hours, and I meticulously ensured every single line was accurately translated.

But here’s the real kicker: despite my careful manual work, the app has somehow reversed the English and French fields entirely. Yes, all my translations are completely swapped, and now I have over 100 pages corrupted with these changes. This includes hours and hours of manual editing all going to waste because FlutterFlow’s system has reversed everything between the English and French fields—both in the settings and directly on the pages.

Now, I’m left with pages upon pages of errors that need to be manually fixed again. It’s incredibly frustrating to see months of work, translating line by line, undone in a moment. So now, I’m stuck redoing everything, trying to untangle the mess that FlutterFlow’s system has created.

At this point, I’m seriously considering whether this is even worth it. What’s the point of investing hours into a translation system that’s more prone to destruction than anything else? All my efforts feel like they’ve been completely wasted, and I’m really upset about it.

Post Scriptum : Here are 4 screenshots below corresponding to the language settings (in App Settings, and in editing module) of 2 text fields.

1 - "Utilisateur bloqué" (French) - "You blocked the user" (English)
2 - "Modifier votre recherche" (French) - "Edit you search" (English)

Do you understand the problem? —FlutterFlow is messing with the language fields, reversing them between the App Settings and the direct page editing module for the same text field. 🤣 🤣

I could then intentionally reverse the inputs in ENGLISH and FRENCH, and it would work by accepting the bug long-term. But if I do that, and later, for some reason, I decide to delete the ENGLISH language from the entire application in one click in APP SETTINGS, the ENTIRE FRENCH VERSION will disappear.
However, French is the primary language of my application and my target users...
Brilliant, isn’t it 🤣 🤣

Cheers and Merry Christmas !

What have you tried so far?

I tried editing the languages correctly in App Settings, which reversed my translations in the direct page editing module. Then I did the opposite: I changed the language in the direct page editing module, and I noticed that in App Settings, it reversed again. What more can I do? Seriously...

Did you check FlutterFlow's Documentation for this topic?
