Focusing a walkthrough on a widget within a component

Troubleshooting

I've been trying out the walkthrough feature, and on my first try I'm hitting a stumbling block.

The UI element I need to focus on is not a simple widget within a page. It's a widget within a component on that page. Does anybody know how to achieve this

What have you tried so far?

I've tried focusing on the component itself, but it's way too large.

I've tried overlaying a transparent container on top of the desired widget and focusing on that, and the walkthrough then zooms in correctly, but it's not in the right position.
