Form validation shows field should not be empty errors even before typing anything in textfield

I'm using form validation on my sign up and login page, and form validation shows field should not be empty errors even before typing anything in textfield.
I'm pretty sure I'm doing something wrong, my current setup includes form validation as root widget with automatic validation on and fields are checkmarked, and validate form action on login/signup button.
