GridView Images Keep Original Aspect Ratio Instead of Staying Square

Widgets & Design

In my app, users can upload images that are then displayed in a gallery. I’m having an issue with how the uploaded images are displayed.

In FlutterFlow, I’ve configured the gallery images to be square with a 1:1 aspect ratio, and the Image widget is set to Box Fit: Cover so that portrait or landscape images should be cropped from the center to fill the square.

However, in the live app, when I upload an image, the gallery item seems to keep the image’s original aspect ratio instead of displaying it as a square. For example, a portrait image causes the gallery item to appear rectangular/tall instead of staying square and cropping the image.

I’ve already checked that the GridView Child Aspect Ratio is set to 1, the Image width and height are set to fill the available space, and Box Fit is set to Cover.

Has anyone experienced this before, or know what other setting could be causing the uploaded image’s original dimensions to affect the gallery item size?

I have set it up in flutter flow

AspectRatio 1:1 - square Container - Stack fills square - Image fills Stack + Box Fit Cover

Thank you for any help

What have you tried so far?

I have gone through and double checked the set up in FlutterFlow multiple times I've also tried to change multiple settings and nothing has helped.

Did you check FlutterFlow's Documentation for this topic?
