How important is it to create a figma design?

Hi, I am new to programming and developing. I have made a sketch of my UI on paper and wonder if that's enough? I want to start building with : FF flows, Ai gen and my sketch on paper.

Or do you really strongly recommend to first learn how to use figma and do the design in there?

What have you tried so far?

Made a sketch, opened figma and figured out that it would take a lot of time just to learn Figma so I'm wondering if it is an essential skill to have when developing an app. If it is, I'll for sure dive into figma first.
