JSON app state in API Call

Troubleshooting

i have a custom function with a json argument.
When use this custom function to set a value to app state variable and then call that app variable in the api call, it puts quotes around the entire variable.

What have you tried so far?

Ive tried manually putting the json as the default value, and it works.
i even tried using the response and test, and that works.

This is what the payload looks like when i make the json the default value of the app state AND when i use the response and test.
