MediaDisplay - how to add Expand Image action to the image?

In my app, I'm using a MediaDisplay widget to show either an Image or a Video. I would like to include a tap action to trigger "Expand Image" like what can be done with an Image widget. How can this be done?

What have you tried so far?

I tried adding an action, but the "Expand Image" action is disabled with a hover hint that says something like "The selected widget is not an image".
