Set form field not working as intended

I made a text field where we can search for users in my data base and search are shown using list view and query and when I press on a option I want that text field to be filled with the option but it isn't working? why would it be so?

What have you tried so far?

Tried reading few docs on set form field and saw few youtube videos on search bar but everyone is approaching in a different way. Asked ChatGPT but it could not help.
