Timer does not fire "On Timer End" event

What could be the reason?
A timer (count up) is started and is also visibly running. 
If you then stop it, the "On Timer End" command is not called.

What have you tried so far?

Tried to issue a SnackBar Message in the "Timer End" event, but it never gets executed.
