Upload Media in Media source action doesn't available

Hello,

While it’s a rare occurrence, certain issues can make your experience with FlutterFlow frustrating when building your app.

Background: I have numerous projects in my account that I use to test FlutterFlow features and learn how to build apps. I noticed that the ‘Upload Media’ option in the ‘Media Source’ action wasn’t available in one of my projects. This puzzled me, so I decided to investigate.

I opened another project where the ‘Upload Media’ feature was present. After viewing it there, I returned to the initial project and found that the ‘Upload Media’ option had reappeared.

Before opening the project with the ‘Upload Media’ feature, the first project only had options for ‘Camera’, ‘Gallery’, and ‘Either Camera or Gallery’. However, after switching between projects, the ‘Upload Media’ option became visible again.

You might be wondering why this is important or why I’m writing about such a minor issue.

Well, imagine if you wanted to upload an image and display it in your local app before uploading it to a storage server. How would you do that? This is where the ‘Uploaded Media’ action comes into play.

The ‘Uploaded Media’ feature is used to capture your local image (in bytes) and then upload it to your storage server later. This allows you to verify that your locally viewed image is the correct one before uploading.

You might still be thinking, “I can see it, so why can’t you?” As I mentioned earlier, this is a rare occurrence. However, what I want to convey is that this could be due to browser caching. When FlutterFlow updates your project, your account might still be using an older version or some options might not be up-to-date.

Suggestions:

  1. In Chrome, create a dedicated profile for FlutterFlow.

  2. Set up auto-clear cache in that Chrome profile when you stop using FlutterFlow or close the window.

  3. Set up a password manager for Chrome in that FlutterFlow profile. This way, when the plugin clears cache or history in that particular profile, you can easily log back in.

These suggestions can help prevent caching issues and ensure that your FlutterFlow account stays up-to-date.
