If Firebase is the defacto databse then why not Hive for a local storage option ?

I mean if you are going to use Firebase as your over the wire backend database then why not offer Hive as a local object store instead / as well ... the mechanics are similar just not over the wire or am I missing something ?

I know people have published Hive implementations ... out of the box would always be preferred
