If you're adding custom Dart code in FlutterFlow, you’ve probably used custom_functions.dart. But what’s easy to miss is that you can also create full code files in the custom_code directory and not just for functions.
I ran into this while trying to break up a chunk of logic that didn’t belong in the main function file. FlutterFlow lets you add your own Dart files and import them where needed, as long as they’re properly structured. Just don’t forget to declare the file in custom_code/lib/index.dart, or it won’t get compiled.
It’s not obvious from the UI that this structure even exists you have to manage the files manually and be mindful of how everything hooks together. But once you understand the pattern, it’s clean and gives you real control without leaving the FlutterFlow environment.
If you’ve done more modular setups or imported third-party Dart packages into custom files, I’d be interested to hear how stable it’s been in practice.
