The Community’s Frustration with the Flutter 3.24+ Upgrade Makes Me Optimistic—Here’s Why

General Conversations

Today was a wild ride with the release of the Flutter 3.24+ packages upgrade, which even took down the community forum at one point.

So why am I “optimistic” despite all the uproar? Aside from the mild clickbait, here’s my take:

  1. Passionate Outrage Shows Commitment: I’ve been actively involved in this community since late June, and I’ve never seen this level of engagement before. When a community voices their frustrations, it’s a strong sign that they believe in the product, want it to succeed, and are invested in its future. Users want to build better apps, create great user experiences, and even build their careers around FlutterFlow. This passion reassures me that building a business on FlutterFlow is the right choice.

  2. Constructive Feedback Is Key: I recognize that some frustration is aimed at “untested” releases. QA efforts will always face challenges covering every use case, and unforeseen issues will arise. But that’s where our feedback plays a crucial role. To Inactive Member, I’d recommend: keep up the pace with feature releases, even during major upgrades, but also consider giving users the option to revert back to older versions temporarily when significant issues crop up. This could provide flexibility and peace of mind until everything stabilizes.

Would love to hear your thoughts.
