Today is the day!
My application FFlowLingo is a reimagination of Duolingo® app, used by millions of language learners.
I love Duolingo and I use it every day, however, there are not one but many things I’d like to Reimagine for this app!
I want more animations on the lesson map and I want more cats! I need a cat mascot, and I have a cat mascot!
We, Android users, are not able to rearrange words in exercises. It’s infuriating when you notice that a word needs to be inserted between, say, first and second words, and then the whole phrase needs to be started over because you can’t just drag the word to the proper place. iOS users have this feature, but why not implement it on Android?!?! (the legends say, that this feature was enabled on Android years ago, but then suddenly it was disabled. Another legend says, that some lucky owners of some phones do have access to this feature even on Android - still not fair!)
I want Anki cards system (flashcards that help you remember words)
Dictionary! Language learning without a proper dictionary is so hard. And Duolingo doesn’t have a proper dictionary. iOS users have a list of words - a plain list of all words users encountered in their lessons, no search, no filtering out words with minor differences (arrest, arrested, August, august - listed as 4 words!). And even with all these flaws - Android users don’t have a “words list” feature at all!
No more, I said! Ladies and Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the FlutterFlow technology! So, I did. That’s an MVP, of course, so no real backend, about 100 words in a built-in Italian-English dictionary, and limited lessons. But it is working great and is fun to use!
Last minute update: you can try the preliminary web version! (note that the app is designed for phone-sized screens first)
