So , I'm a designer that has done a bunch of packaging in the video gaming industry, branding and marketing too. I had an idea maybe ten years ago for a photo app that would load the users photos into templates of vintage vinyl record covers with the ability to tint the photos and add a wear layer - like your old record sleeves have that worn out circle, right? Also that cool stereo header on the top. Think BlueNote. This was was the birth of VinylizeMe.
I hired a dev team in Chicago to build it from the UI and assets I designed and out it went as a native iOS app. I worked with my old college roommate, who is an engineer and a coder to do updates here and there, but after a number of years, it became apparent that we needed to do a 2.0 version with a different business model - freemium - and give the people what they wanted - more templates!
So I designed all that - generated all the assets for a basic package that offered 5 templates for free, with the ability to get 5 bundles for jazz and blues. nu-wave and hardcore (punk and metal) via IAP. Also a sticker and header bundles! The Nice Price! My partner started building this out in Unity, but a few years ago, took a job at a gaming company in Victoria BC, and has been unable to work on it any further.
Sigh.
So - I've been looking around for a DIY solution similar to a Wix, that was visual and no-low-code for designers like me. I came across FlutterFlow a couple weeks ago, and already have a number of pages built, and a prototype build of a template that looks promising. I've gotten comfortable enough with the help of AI to be encouraged that this could be the solution I've been looking for. My goal is to get the app in the 80% +/- complete range and bring in a pro, whether that's my old partner, if he's available, or a FlutterFlow expert to help polish it up and get it launched.
That's why I'm here - to get some technical help on some things so I can continue to build skills, and also to make some contacts within the community and build some relationships. I am also offering up my experience in design , marketing and branding for anyone who might be looking for some advice on that sector of the app business.
