Download Samsung USB Driver
Samsung Android USB Driver for Windows v1.9.5.0
You need the driver only if you are developing on Windows and want to connect a Samsung Android device to your development environment over USB.
Why You Need the Samsung USB Driver
This driver establishes the low-level communication channel between your Windows PC and Samsung Galaxy device. Without it, Windows cannot properly recognize your phone or tablet in specialized modes like Download Mode or ADB. If you plan to use Samsung Odin to flash firmware, install a custom recovery, or unbrick your device, the driver is the first thing you must install.
Beyond Odin, it is also required for ADB (Android Debug Bridge) commands, which developers and power users rely on to sideload apps, capture logcat output, or push files to the device. It also enables proper MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) file transfers when you connect your Galaxy phone to your computer. It handles all communication modes—Samsung's proprietary Download Mode, ADB debugging, and standard file transfer.
Samsung bundles the driver inside Smart Switch, but installing the standalone driver is lighter and faster—especially if you only need Odin or ADB access without the file migration features that Smart Switch provides.
